  9Th Annual Sports 2014 of Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan held in Mehmood Stadium from 28th Feb. to 09th March. Final events of the sports celebrated on last day 13Th March,2014 . Five colorful stalls of different classes with their slogans were presenting their identity. All the viewers , students and teaching staff stood up in regard while unique “National Anthem” was played on violin. Principal Dr. Muhammad Saeed said in his address that games have very important role in healthy life and such activities should continue during the education. The players should have also sprit of competition. Medals were presented to the winners on the victory stand In the end, Principal Dr. Muhammad Saeed congratulated the sports committee who worked hard with full dedication.

  A team from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Islamabad visited Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar khan on 3rd Feb 2014 to assess the sufficiency of facilities for the teaching and training of 150 students of MBBS at this institution. They were warmly welcome by the principal and faculty. The principal introduced them to the faculty and briefed them about the project. The team later visited library, lecture halls, hostels, play grounds, laboratories cafeteria, Wards and diagnostic blocks of the college and hospital. The members of team expressed their satisfaction over all arrangements and facilities.

  National defence day / National theme songs competition was arranged on 30th September 2013 at H.H. Sheikh Khalifa School of Allied Health Science Rahim Yar Khan.
Mr. Nabeel Javed D.C.O R.Y.Khan was the chief Guest at this occasion.
National songs, skits and documentary related to 1965 war against India, were performed by the patriotic and loyal students of all technocologies of B.Sc (Hons.) and DPT.
In the end shields, Certificates were distributed to the position holders by the honourable chief Guest.

  Central Supply System (Compressed Medical Air & Liquid oxygen) has been installed in Sheikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital Rahim Yar khan. Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed has inaugurated this ceremony. Honorable faculty members , Dr. Anwar Rehan (In charge biomedical), Eng. M. Kaleem and Bio medical Team ,were also present at this occasion. This is great pleasure for the people of Rahim Yar Khan, Central supply System  is successfully working in SZMC. This will solve number of problems in Paediatrics Medicine, Neuro Surgery, Surgery ( Uint-I ), ( Uint-II ) and Paediatrics Surgery departments . This Central Supply System, supplies Compressed Medical Air & Liquid oxygen, 24 hours round the clock with back up support that is used in ventilation and suction systems.

May 14th , 2013 WORKSHOP ON “SYNOPSIS – UNDERSTANDING & DEVELOPMENT”  
  A workshop was arranged in Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan by Department of Medical Education and Department of Pulmonology with the collaboration on 14th May 2013.
Twenty doctors who were FCPS Part – II trainees in various disciplines of medicine and surgery participated in workshop. Prof. Dr. Tariq Rehan, Director Department of Medical Education, Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khaninaugurated the workshop. In his opening remarks, he throw light on the importance of research in medical field. He further emphasized that a proper research Protocol is mandatory to do a meaningful research work.
Workshop was very facilitated by Mr. Jaffer Bin Baqar. First he outlined the components of synopsis and then each component was discussed in detail. Various exercises were given to participants at appropriate time to maximize the understanding. As majority of participants were in process of developing their synopsis, they actively participants were in the workshop. Many of them discussed various problems being faced by them during their synopsis development. Mr. Jaffer Bin Baqar very nicely responded to them.
Dr. Masood-Ul-Haq, Head of Pulmonology Department, in his concluding remarks hoped that this workshop will not only help the participants in getting their synopsis approved but also planning research in their future career. He thanked Mr. Jaffer Bin Baqar, workshop coordinator and facilitator and Department of Medical Education for providing the necessary help to conduct this workshop. 		 
     
April 17th , 2013 Literary Week 2013  
  Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan organized literary week 2013 from 13 to 17 April. These avid and dynamic activities were inaugurated by Principal SZMC, Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed. All these events were organized by the Anatomy Department under the commendable directions of chief organizer Professor Dr. Athar Maqbool and other faculty members including Assistant Prof. Dr. Owais Hameed, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal Malik, Dr. M. Shafiq Ahmad, Dr. Hassan Mehmood, Dr. Tariq Hussain, Dr. Javed Umar Khokhar, Dr. Romeela Amjad, Dr. Urooj Tahir and the student organizers; President; Nadia Atta, Qamar Raza, Vice Presedent; Anam Taufique, Abdul Sattar Baloch, General Secretary; Alveena Altaf, Jawad Ameer, Joint Secretary; Rabail Naeem, Sabawoon Khan of final year class and the Class Coordinators; Qurrat-ul-Aien Khalid, Nadir Hussain of final year, Tehreem Ali, Saad Arif of 4th year, Asifa Azhar, Syed Ali Raza of 3rd year, Huma Anwer, Atif Sohail of 2nd Year, Maria Mumtaz and Kashif Nazir of 1st year classes. The indefatigable efforts and enthusiasm of Dr. Athar Maqbool, his department and all the organizers made it possible to implement an exceedingly rewarding and enticer literary week.  
     
April 17th , 2013 Literary Week 2013 "Cultural Programme"

  The inal day of the dynamic week, on 17th April, was cultural programme. Supervisor of this event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuzhat Rasheed (Obst. & Gynae). This cultural programme was alienated on three different categories “Drama”, “Song” and “Stage Performance”. The students presented numerous fascinating performances. In “Drama” category final year students presented a skit titled “Agar Hay Jazba-e-Tameer Zinda” directed by Nadia Atta secured first position in which Nadia Atta, Anum Taufique, Zara Batool, Rabail Naeem, Jawad Ameer, Ali Zeeshan, Ahmad Abu-Bakar, Arsalan Asad, Muhammad Ali and Adil Mohyuddin participated. A captivating performance was the “Ab Nahin to Kab?” directed by Muhammad Abu-Bakar of 1st year MBBS was awarded the 2nd position. Sadaf Iqbal, Anum Lateef, M. Abbas Zafar, Hassan Abbas, Ali Hassan, Sharjeel Adnan and Moeez Maqbool were the participants of this skit. The 3rd position was captured by a skit “Loose Talk with Momo” of 3rd year MBBS class directed by Ali Raza Shah. The participants of this skit were Faria Amjad, Zobia Noor, Komal Ejaz, Amna Wajahat, Asfa Azhar, Asad Mehmood and Mukkaram Aziz.
In “Song” category, Hassan Abbas 1st year, M. Abdullah Zain final year and Usman Akram 2nd year got the first, second and third positions respectively.
Among “Stage Performances” the first position was awarded to “Her Kali Raat kay Baad Ek Savaira Hota Hay” directed by Farid Ahmad of 2nd year. Second position was secured by Group Dance directed by Basir Gill of final year. Ammar Ali Ashfaq of final year, Rizwan Ashraf, Saad Arif, Hasnain Mehbood, Hamid Jamil, Abdul Hasseb Sarfraz and Zubair Ali of 4th year class participated in this group dance. A skit “Unity, Faith & Discipline” directed by M. Abdullah Zain of final year was awarded 3rd position. M. Abdullah Zain, Ammar Ali Ashfaq and Raees Afzaal of final year, Abbas Zafar, Hassan Abbas and Hammad Ullah of 1st year were the participants of this skit. Prof. Dr. Rakhshinda Bajwa (Histopathology), Prof. Dr. Naveed Ashraf (Neurosurgery) and Prof. Dr. Mubarak Ali Ch. (Paeds Medicine) were the judges of Cultural Programme.
The Chief Guest was Mr. Mehboob Qadir Shah, District & Session Judge Rahim Yar Khan and the guest of honour was Mr. Sohail Habib Tajik, DPO, R Y Khan. The chief guest appreciated the performances of the students and remarked that it seems I am sitting in Lahore not in Rahim Yar Khan and the performer students were so indulged on the stage acting that they look like professionals. The chief guest also congratulated the Principal heartily on organizing such lively and remarkable extracurricular events to walk along with the otherwise hectic medical college routine. And consequently, the energetic and highly enjoyable cultural and literary week ended, bestowing us with well deserved refreshment and memories we shall cherish forever.

  The fourth day 16th April comprised a Mushaira competition on the topic “Bigray hooay haalat sanwar kyun nahi jatay”. The chief guest of this event was Mr. Khalid Saleem, DCO, Rahim Yar Khan. The supervisor of the event was Assoc Prof. Dr. Shazia Majid (Obst. & Gynae). The participating students presented their works with zeal. Prof. Dr. Farzana Amjad (Haematology) Prof. Dr. Humayun Iqbal (Peads Medicine), Dr. Abdul Majid Khan (Anaesthesia) and Dr. Ashfaq Nasir Khan (Surgery) were the judges of Mushaira competition. The position holders in Mushaira competition were Shakeel Khurasani, final year first, Nadia Atta final year second, Zara Batool final year and Anum Nawaz 2nd year achieved third position.

     
April 15th , 2013 Literary Week 2013 "Saraiki Punjabi Debate Competition"

  The literary week proceeded with Punjabi and Saraiki debate on “Sach bolian bhanbhar machda ay” on 15th April. The position holders were Nasma Wabasa, final year first, Shoaib Kanwal, final year second and the third position was secured by Arooj Ami, DPT first year. Prof. Dr. G. M. Baloch (Surgery) supervised the event. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tariq (Radiology), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rehman (Pathology) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Yar (Community Medicine) were the judges of Punjabi/ Saraiki debate competition.

     
April 14th , 2013 Literary Week 2013 "Urdu & English Debate Competition"

  The second day 14th April comprised a healthy competition of English debate on “Marriage is the sunset of love” and an Urdu debate on “Aaj guzray kal say behtar hai”. The supervisor of this event was Prof. Dr. Khalid Shabbir (Oncology). The students presented their perspectives in favour or against the topic fueling an argument that made it difficult for the judges to reach a verdict. The position holders for English debate were Komal Ejaz, 3rd year first, Mukkaram Aziz, 3rd year second and Anam Taufique, final year stood third. The position holders for Urdu debate were Bushra Ghulam from final year who stood first, Muhammad Muneeb from 2nd year who stood second and the third position was shared by Syeda Masooma, 1st year. Prof. Dr. Farah Shafi (Medicine), Prof. Dr. Khalid Shabbir and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed M. Aijaz Ali (Forensic Medicine) were the judges of English debate & the judges of Urdu debate were Prof. Dr. Rakhshinda Bajwa (Histopathology), Associate Professor Dr. Irshad ul Haq (ENT), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed M. Aijaz Ali and Asstt. Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Atif (Pharmacology). The Principal spoke regarding the debates, highlighting both topics as astutely selected and praised the students for their vivid performances. He also emphasized irrespective of the English topic that the scene of the sunset is amazing and everyone enjoys and appreciates the nature’s view at that time.

     
April 13th , 2013 Literary Week 2013 "Qirrat & Naat Competition"

  The memorable week began with Qirrat and Naat competition on 13th April. The chief guest was Allama Abdul Rauf Rabbani, and the guest of honour was Hafiz Qari Abdul Quddus. Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saeed (Ophthalmology) was the supervisor of this event. The position holders of Qirrat competition; among the girls were Sara Rasheed, final year who stood first, Hafiza Ayesha Jamil, 3rd year who stood second and Anam Manzoor, 2nd year who stood third. The position holders of Qirrat competition among the boys were Hafiz Uzair Hassan, 2nd year who secured first position, Muhammad Baha-ud-Din, 1st year who secured 2nd position and Hafiz Muhammad Wasim, final year who stood third. The position holders for Naat competition; among the girls Bushra Ghulam, final year stood first, Raisham Kareem 4th year second and Shahana Majeed from 4th year stood third, among the boys; Usman Akram, 2nd year stood first, second position was secured by M. Zaigham Abbas, 1st year and Asad Mehmood, 3rd year stood third. The judges of Qirrat and Naat competition were Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saeed, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad (Biochemistry), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmad (Physiology) and Hafiz Masood Tariq (Islamiyat). The chief guest Allama Abdul Rauf Rabbani said that such Mahafil-i-Qirrat and Naat are rare events these days and participants of such events are bestowed with “Rehmat” of Allah Almighty. The Principal appreciated and congratulated the participating students and commented that there is nothing that bestows peace to the heart in a way imitating the words of The Holy Quran and no gathering as worthy of reverence as Mehfil-e-Naat.

     
April 9th , 2013 2ND ANNUAL FUNCTION OF SOCIETY OF SURGEONS PAKISTAN RAHIM YAR KHAN

  2nd annual function of society of surgeons Pakistan Rahim Yar Khan chapter was held on 9th April 2013 at hotel Desert Palm.
Chief Guest was Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Gill, Guest of honor was Prof. Muhammad Saeed Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, Guest speaker was Prof. Babar Ali, and Prof. Zubair Ahmed especially participated in function. Program was stated with tilawat-i- Kalam Pak.
Dr. Mazhar Jam general secretary society of surgeons Pakistan RYK chapter presented annual report of SSP, RYK chapter. After this president SSP, RYK Prof. Tariq Mehmood Rehan in his presidential address welcomed the guests and audience.
Prof. Baber Ali gave the state of art lecture. That was really liked by all the audience. Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College Prof. Muhammad Saeed in his address showed the long-term affiliation with the society of surgeons RYK chapter. At the end Prof. G. M. Baloch presented vote of thanks to all the guests and audience for their participation. Surgeons of all disciplines and from whole district participated in this function. At the end dinner was served, followed by musical night all the participants enjoyed a lot.

     
March 28th , 2013 Visit of Commissioner Bahawalpur Division at Sheikh Zayed Medical College/ Hospital

  Capt. (Rtd) Mr. Assadullah Khan Commissioner Bahawalpur Division visited Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, at 11:30am on 28-03-13. He was warmly welcomed by the Principle Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital Rahim Yar Khan. The Principal briefed the honourable guest about the working of SZMC/H. The various issues relating to SZMC/H were discussed. The Commissioner Bahawalpur also paid round of wards including surgical wards, MRI, PCR Section, Medical wards, Emergency block and newly constructed Emergency Block which is to be inaugurated in near-future. He expressed his satisfaction and appreciated regarding the working of SZMC/H with the Principal SZMC/H. The Principal, SZMC/H thanked the honourable guest for sparing his precious time for this institution.

  Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal Shiekh Zayed Medical College /Hospital welcomed the honourable guest Maj. Gen. farooq Ahmed and briefed about the working/functioning and services provided by Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital, R.Y.Khan.
Maj. Gen. farooq Ahmed delivered his lecture very nicely on “Awareness / Motivation Lecture Regarding Military Medical Services” in the Auditorium of Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan, during his lecture he convinced and motivate to Final Year MBBS Students and post graduate doctors to join and server the armed forces and a bright future is waiting for them. A large no. of academic staff, Doctors, young and post graduate medical students attended this lecture.   CPSP office Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan arranged a workshop on Communication Skills for MCPS and FCPS trainees at Cardiology Conference room from 13-01-2013 to 15-01-2013. Twenty Five (25) doctors from various specialties attended the workshop. Sq. Leader (R) Pervaiz Bashir conducted the workshop. At the end of workshop, Acting Principal Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim distributed the certificates among the participants. Dr. Irshad Ul Haq, CPSP regional Co-ordinator at Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan also attended the closing ceremony & promised to arrange such workshop have in future as well.   On Friday, 14 September 2012 the inauguration ceremony of Haemodialysis Machine Model: EC009/ 2012 Fresinious (Germany) was held in Dialysis Unit of Urology Department, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held in Dialysis Unit of Urology Department, and it was undertaken by the philanthropist Haji Anwar Ali Ansari a famous social worker and owner of the Jallundhar Sweet Mart Rahim Yar Khan. The honorable Principal Dr. Muhammad Saeed led the ceremony with Vice Principal Professor Dr. Abdul Karim, the worthy Medical Superintendent Dr. Abdul Wahid, HOD Urology & Dialysis Dr. Safdar Ali Shah, Dr. Abid Hussain Assistant Professor Nephrology, Dr. Khalid Saeed Pansota Assistant Professor Urology, Dr. Mahtab Medical Officer, Dr. Major Hanif Assistant Professor Dermatology.
In this ceremony Principal Dr. Muhammad Saeed SZMC/H RYK reiterated on the public and social philanthropist that they should advance forward in donating more machines as the Haji Anwar Ali Ansari has donated machine in the dialysis unit for the welfare and help of the poor and needy patient of kidney failure, he also thanked to the Haji Ibrahim for donating the haemodialysis machine and also welcome the people who joined the ceremony.

30TH  August, 2012 ENTRANCE TEST – 2012: For Admission to Public and Private Medical / Dental Institutions of the Punjab  
 

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore, shall conduct the Entrance Test for admission to First Year MBBS / BDS in Public and Private Medical and Dental Institutions of the Punjab on Sunday, 23rd September, 2012 at 09:00 A.M.
The Entrance Test kit will be available on the payment of Rs.500/- in cash, from 31st August to 9th September 2012 (including Sundays) from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM from UHS desk in the Department of Biochemistry, Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan.
The candidates shall submit the duly filled Application Forms at the same centre from where they received the Entrance Test kit, from 31st August to 9th September 2012 (including Sundays) from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM .

The candidates shall submit following documents with their applications:
  1. Attested copy of Matriculation/SSC or equivalent examination Certificate.
  2. Attested copy of HSSC/FSc (Pre-medical) or equivalent examination Certificate. Computer-generated result cards are also acceptable.
  3. Attested copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Union Council, if date of birth is not mentioned on Matriculation certificate.
  4. Duly filled Admittance Cards (both copies). The cards must not be separated. Please paste two coloured photographs (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm) on the two cards.
    One self-addressed A-4 size envelope with Rs 40/- postage stamps.
  5. Four recent coloured photographs (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) of the candidate. One to be pasted on the application form and attested on the front and other three, attested on the back, to be attached with the form.
  6. Attested copy of domicile certificate of the candidate. No other document shall be acceptable in lieu of domicile certificate. Foreign candidates shall provide the attested copy of their foreign passport in lieu of domicile.
  7. Hafiz-e-Quran shall present attested certificate of Hafiz-e-Quran, issued by a registered Madrassa.
The candidates are required to submit Application forms by hand. Applications received through post shall NOT be entertained.
On successful submission of application, the Duty Staff will issue a receipt to the applicant. The applicant is required to collect his/her duly stamped Admittance Card bearing his/her roll number and centre for Entrance Test, from the same centre where he/she submitted his/her application, on the date mentioned on his/her receipt. The Admittance Cards will be available from 11th September to 15th September, 2012, from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM at respective centres.

  Capt. (R) Arif Nadeem, (Secretary Government of the Punjab Health Department Lahore) visited SZMC / SZH, Rahim Yar Khan along with Sohail Tipu (Deputy Secretary C.M. secretariat),
Ch. Muhammad Munir (Chairman BOM SZMC/H) and Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi (DCO Rahim Yar Khan) on 03-08-2012 at 11.00 AM.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed (Principal SZMC/H) and the whole faculty staff welcomed the honourable guests. The Principal SZMC/H briefed the honourable guests about the working of the Institution and latest status of on-going developmental schemes of the Institution. The Secretary Health in his address highlighted the steps / initiatives of the Govt. of the Punjab, Health Department being taken to provide better health care facilities to the public. He also assured the faculty that their genuine problems and demands will be solved on priority basis and emphasized the faculty to work with full dedication and devotion in the provision of health facilities to the ailing humanity coming from broad catchment areas. The Secretary Health paid visit to the H. H. Sheikh Khalifa Health Care Center and Allied Health Sciences, Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI) Suite, PCR Lab and CCU2 including Angiography Catheterization laboratory in detail as well. The representatives of Young Doctors Association and Employees Welfare Association of SZMC/H also met the Honourable Guest and presented their demands. The Secretary Health assured them that their genuine problems and demands will be solved on priority basis.
At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal, SZMC/H thanked the honourable guests for sparing so much precious time in the visit of SZMC/H and also providing the guidance in the improvement of the delivery of health care services to the needy patients coming to the SZH R. 3RD  August, 2012 Orientation Seminar on ENTRANCE TEST 2012  
  University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore is arranging Orientation Seminar on the Entrance Test 2012 at Sheikh Zayed Public School, Rahim Yar Khan on August 26, 2012 at 10.00 AM for the students who wish to appear in the Entrance Test.   Keeping up the tradition of Sheikh Zayed Medical College the Final Year MBBS Trip to North of Pakistan was arranged for the 4th consecutive year, from 15th to 21st of July, 2012. This dream came true and trip was possible just because of the kind and fatherly patronage of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed worthy Principal, Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan.
Prof. Dr. Rashid Mehmood and Prof. Dr. Nuzhat Khawaja were assigned the difficult task of supervising the trip.
Dr. Asif Shah, Dr. Ayesha Munawar & Dr. Maria Nadeem were also there to help and manage the trip which they did. On 15th July, 2012 the excited Final Year students started their journey on buses and reached Rawalpindi next day morning. The trip reached Mansehra and stayed at hotel Ashiana, the 1st base camp.
Next four days were spent in the dreams and heavens of one of the most beautiful part of the world, the north of Pakistan. Thandyani, Kaiwai, Shogran, Sripaya and lake Saif-ul-Malook were visited. Saif-ul-Malook lake’s mesmerizing feelings will remain with all forever. Next two night stay at Fairyland hotel at Malakandi was another unique experience.
On the way back to Rawalpindi, Nathiagali and Murree were visited and at dinner trip reached Monal restaurant, Islamabad. After dinner departed for Rahim Yar Khan and reached by 2pm on 22nd of July, 2012.
Class representative commented, as all good things come to an end. This wonderful trip do, but the sweet and everlasting memories will remain with all the students. These places can be visited again on individual basis but with whole class, this was the last time.
All the thanks due to worthy Principal for such a great gesture.

  Khubaib Foundation of Pakistan, a philanthropic organization and the country partner of IHH (Insani Haq-o-Hurriyat) of Turkey, donated 50 wheels chairs to the Sheikh Zayed Medical College & Hospital Rahim Yar Khan in a ceremony.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal SZMC/H, Maj. (R) khan Muhammad, southern director relief and rehabilitation, Main Imtiaz Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim, Dr. Abdul Wahid Add. Medical Superintendent and Dr. Makhdoom Basharat Hussain were present at this occasion.
Rehan Tahir project manager south briefed about the aims and objectives of the Khubaib Foundation and said that foundation provides quality Services of Care, Relief to Persons affected by natural and unnatural disasters and support for the rehabilitation of Prisoners. He also mentioned that wheel chairs, provided to the SZMC/H, are of high quality and durable.

  Students Art Society (SAS) Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan organized a prodigious art exhibition. Principal SZMC Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed accompanied by Professor Dr. Athar Maqbool inaugurated the exhibition on June 6, 2012 (Wed). The students of SZMC presented 54 magnificent works of art which were categorized under the fields of calligraphy, drawing, painting, and sketching. The students also took part in the photographic competition on the given topic of “The Developing SZMC”. The exhibition was structured by Students Art Society (SAS) SZMC. The Principal spoke in high terms concerning the exhibition stating that the purpose of such art exhibitions is to bring about awareness in the students of regional and national culture. He further declared that by presenting such fabulous pieces of art the students have inevitably proved their commendable artistic skills. The Principal awarded the prizes to position holders; in the field of calligraphy Moavia Arshad 2nd Year stood first, Mukarram Aziz 2nd Year stood second and Zubia Noor 2nd Year stood third. In the field of drawing Rida Fatima 1st year stood first, Mishaim Bakhtawar 2nd year stood second and third prize also won by Mishaim Bakhtawar 2nd year. In the field of painting Mukarram Aziz 2nd year stood first, Samrana Shams 2nd Year stood second and Mishaim Bakhtawar 2nd Year stood third. In the field of sketching Mukarram Aziz 2nd Year stood first, Madiha Atta 1st year stood second and Muhammad Usman 2nd year stood third. In the photography Rida Fatima 1st year stood first, Naveed Ahmed 2nd year stood second and third position was also won by Naveed Ahmed 2nd year. All the art pieces remained displayed for three days so that all the staff and students of SZMC could observe these art pieces without difficulty.
The Principal SZMC Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Patron in Chief SAS Prof Dr Athar Maqbool, Artist Anatomy Deptt Mrs Nagis Nouman, President SAS Muhammd Omer and General Secretary SAS Muhammad Ishaq were awarded with shields. Thereby the art exhibition ended in the haze of colours and the tide of thoughts leaving behind an effervescent and vivacious touch.

  Pulmonology Department arranged a One Day Workshop on Interpretation of Chest X – Ray on 05th June 2012 in the Conference Hall CCU-II of Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan at 09:00am. The Postgraduate Residents preparing for their IMM & FCPS Part-II and many consultants attended this workshop with great interest. 34 PGR’s and about 05 consultants participated in this workshop. Dr. Irfan Ahmed, Associate Professor / Head of Medicine was called on stage for opening sentences. Then Dr. Masood Ul Haq, Assistant Professor / Head of Pulmonology Department delivered a lecture on general over view of Chest X-ray. Dr. Abdus Salam Arshad, Senior Consultant Chest Physician, showed a variety of Chest X-ray. Then Dr. Masood Ul Haq shared his knowledge and experience with the participants & showed a number of important Chest X-rays. It was an interactive session. All the participants admired the efforts of Pulmonology Department regarding this workshop. Closing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal, Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan. He appreciated the efforts of Department of Pulmonology & stressed that such activities should be continued in future. Certificates of attendance were presented to all the participants by worthy principal.

  The final day of the dynamic week, on 17th April, was celebrated as Student’s Day. The eve was dedicated to the Martyrs of Siachen. The students presented numerous fascinating skits. One skit was presented by Farhan Aslam and Asim-ur-Rehman Khawaja on “Bhola” which was included as per special request by the worthy Principal. Final year students presented a skit titled “Maan” (on Martyrs of 138 soliders due to avalanche at Gayari sector in Siachen on 07-04-2012) directed by Hasnain Mazhar in which Aisha Mushtaq, Aisha Moazzam, Armaghan Amin, Fahim Liaqat, Moazzam Mumtaz, Muhammad Umar, and Farhan Aslam participated. A captivating performance was the news presented by Sara Majeed and Hasnain Mazhar of final year. Prof. Dr. M. Idrees Anwar, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hussain, Assoc Prof. Dr. Mubarak Ali Ch. and Assoc Prof. Dr. Syed Ijaz Ali were the judges of Cultural Programme.

  • Third position to “Momo” by 2nd year students directed by Faria Amjad.
Among solo performances, the First position was awarded to “Fashion Designer, ZVS” by Irfan Akram of 3rd year, second position to “Bhola”, final year and third position to a “Milli Naghma, Aay Watan Piaray Watan” by Muhammad Irfan, final year. The Chief Guest was D.C.O Rahim Yar Khan, Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi. He esteemed the zeal of students and congratulated the Principal heartily on organizing such lively and remarkable extracurricular events to walk along with the otherwise hectic medical college routine. And consequently, the energetic and highly enjoyable cultural and literary week ended, bestowing us with a well deserved refreshment and memories we shall cherish forever.

  The fourth day 16th April comprised a Mushaira competition on the topic “Kya khabar thi ye zamane bhe hain aane wale”. The guest of honour was Head of Physiology Department Nishtar Medical College Multan and former Head of Physiology Department SZMC, Professor Dr. Zafar Hussain Tanveer. The participating students presented their works with zeal. Among the guests Dr. Ashfaq Nasir and Dr. Abdul Majid Khan also exhibited their intriguing pieces of poetry. Prof. Dr. Zafar H. Tanveer sang Iqbal’s poem “Kabhi ae Haqeeqat-e-Muntazir Nazar Aa Libasay Majaz Main” and received a passionate round of applause. Assoc Prof. Dr. Mubarak Ali Ch., Assoc Prof. Dr. Ghulam Sabir, Dr. Ashfaq Nasir and Dr. Abdul Majid Khan were the judges of Mushaira competition. The Principal commented on the event mentioning poetry as an intricate art and one that requires serenity and focus.

  The literary week proceeded with Punjabi and Saraiki debate on “Parahi Nalun Wai Changi” on 15th April. The students of all the years were invited on stage to depict their culture. The sway of vivacious colours, gay faces and enthusiastic performances bestowed students with an enthralling and memorable event.

The Principal SZMC/H expressed his opinion on the topic pointing both “parhai” and “wai” as equally imperative and profoundly linked.

  The second day 14th April comprised a healthy competition of English debate on “Facebook has spoiled us” and an Urdu debate on “Bhook tehzeeb ke adaab bhula deti hai”.
The guest of honour was Principal Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed. The students presented their perspectives in favour or against the topic fueling an argument that made it difficult for the judges to reach a verdict.

The Principal SZMC/H appreciated and congratulated the participating students and commented that there is nothing that bestows peace to the heart in a way imitating the words of The Holy Quran and no gathering as worthy of reverence as Mehfil-e-Naat.

     
30th  April, 2012 Literary Week 2012  
  Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan organized literary week 2012 from 13 to 17 April. These fervent and vigorous activities were inaugurated by Principal SZMC, Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed and Director Medical Education, Head of Surgery Department, Professor Dr. Muhammed Idrees Anwar. The events were organized by the Anatomy Department under the commendable direction of chief organizer Professor Dr. Athar Maqbool and other faculty members including Assistant Prof. Dr Owais Hameed, Assistant Prof. Dr Aisha Rafi, Dr. Tariq Hussain, Dr. Javed Umar Khokhar, Dr. Nayyer Sultana, Dr. Romeela Amjad and the student organizers; Deputy Chief Organizers - Farhan Aslam, Faheem Liaqat, Nida Arif and Amna Sabieh, the Organizers were Irfan Aslam, Hasnain Mazhar, Armaghan Amin, Madeeha Ayman, Mehwish Javed, Saher Iqbal, Sibgha Usman, and the Chief Co-ordinators - Tauqeer Nawaz Khan and Zainab Tahir, all students of final year. The indefatigable efforts and ardur of Dr. Athar Maqbool, his department and all the organizers made it possible to implement an exceedingly gratifying and enticer literary week.

  Various activities organized in connection with World TB Day 2012 are highlighted below.
  1. EXPRESS FORUM on 21st March 2012 Department of Pulmonology with collaboration of daily Express, the most circulated newspaper in this area, arranged a forum to convey the massage of this world TB day. Forum was attended by Dr Masood Ul Haq, Dr Abdus Salam Arshad, Dr. Sajid Ali, Mr. Muhammad Arshad Bajwa, Mr. Muhammad Aslam Parveez and Mr. Nadeem Nazeer. Media persons raised various points about TB and its prevention. The proceeding appeared on 22nd March 2012 in express daily newspaper.
  2. AWARENESS TALK AT ISLAMIA UNIVERSITY BAHAWALPUR RAHIM YAR KHAN on 22nd March 2012 a large number students and faculty members attended and took been interest literature was also distributed. The massage of World TB Day was delivered and all the participants promised to play their part in spreading the information to general public.

TB DAY WALK: The main events of the world TB Day, awareness walk started from Admin Block at 9:00am walk was led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan & attended by large number of doctors, nurses, social workers & Public in general. Posters and banners were displayed during walk displaying this year’s theme of world TB Day at the end of walk Principal. Dr. Masood & Dr. Abdus Salam Arshad addressed the participant. It was stressed that all the participant play their part in fight against TB & spread this message to everyone to make this more effective.
  5. AWARENESS CAMP at Shahi Road at Awami Clinic of Dr. Mokhdoom Muhammad Hussai. Shahi Road is the busiest part of Rahim Yar Khan City. Posters, banners were displayed & literature printed in Urdu distributed among patients attending the clinic as well as among surrounding shop keepers & public in general.
  6. MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION at Shahi Road near Jalandar sweets from 8:00pm to 10:30Pm on 24th March 2012. Important message regarding the TB, its control & prevention were displayed in Urdu. A movie was shown to educate everyone how coughing & sneezing in one’s sleeve can prevent spread of infection. Large number of people gathers to watch the presentation & movie and found it informative & useful. Literature was also distributed.

  One day Training workshop on management of dengue fever commenced at auditorium of Sheikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal SZMC/H was the Chief Guest on this occasion and this training workshop managed by MS Dr. Capt. Mushtaq Ahmed and focal person Asst. Professor Dr. Muhammad Sharif Akhter Community Medicine department SZMC.
Addressing on the Training workshop, Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal SZMC/H said that the workshop will help medical practitioners regarding identification, observation, management, awareness and education of dengue fever. He stressed the need to have updated knowledge on dengue virus besides new guidelines and treatment methodology for victims. He added maintaining sufficient data on dengue virus is important for future research. A large no. of academic staff, consultant, Doctors, Nurses and Para Medical staff attended this training workshop.
Dr. Shahzad Bukhari Chief Consultant Pead. And Dr. Waheed Asst. Professor Medicine addressed to the participants in the seminar & highlighted its magnitude, the world over & in Pakistan clinical presentation, laboratory diagnosis, preventive & control measures regarding Dengue fever.

All the viewers , students and teaching staff stood up in regard while unique “National Anthem” was played on violin. In his address, he said that games have very important role in healthy life and such activities should continue during the education. The players should have also sprit of competition.   Central liquid Oxygen Supply has been installed in Sheikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital Rahim Yar khan. Prof. Shamim Hassan Head of ENT Department has inaugurated this ceremony. Dr. Capt. Mustaq Ahmad Medical Superintendent SZH Sheikh Zayed Medical College and other honorable faculty members were also present at this occasion. This is great pleasure for the people of Rahim Yar Khan after Karachi and Lahore this central liquid Oxygen supply installation has started to work in SZMC. This will solve number of problems in anesthesia and emergency department.

Abdul Ghafoor, Iqbal Channar and Inspector General Javed Iqbal, PSP Provincial Police Officer, Punjab visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan and enquired after the Khanpur blast’s injured there. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College along with Dr. Capt. Mustaq Ahmad Medical Superintendent SZH welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed them about the latest position and working of SZH.
Later, talking to media, they said perpetrators would be taken to task, as the Punjab chief minister had constituted a high-level investigation committee and ordered it to submit a report about Khanpur blast incident within 24 hours.

  The department of Community Medicine SZMC/H has decided to start “Anti Dengue movement” under the vision of the Principal SZMC/H Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed. Regarding this, department has decided to visit colleges, schools and start movement against dengue fever highlighting its clinical symptoms and role of students in its preventions. As a first step anti dengue movement has been launched the first team went to NICAS group of Colleges (girls campus) headed by dr. Abdul Razzaq Assistant Professor Community Medicine Department along with four demonstrator Dr. Mustafa, Dr. Samina, Dr. Rehan, Dr. Sehar, the speakers during their lectures highlighted the role of females in control breading sites of Aides Mosquito in homes. Students were motivated to make it a mission and join hands with government and doctors’ community for prevention of dengue fever.

8th September , 2011  FLOOD RELIEF ACTIVITIES STARTED  
  Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital has organized a medical team comprising of Physicians, Surgeons, gynecologist and Paramedical Staff, for the treatment of flood-hit population in district Mir Pur Khas Sindh. This medical team with all essential medicines and ambulances has been sent to the flood affected areas and start working from today day & night for serving ailing humanity in flood affected areas. The other medical teams are being managed to send within few days till the relief of flood victims.

  Students Arts Society of Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan arranged 2nd Arts & Pictures Exhibition on 8th June 2011 in VIP-Block Hall where “Designed Ism-e-Qurani”, beautiful pictures and charming sketches showing the different customs & cultures of Pakistani societies were installed. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal SZMC inaugurated this exhibition. Taking keen interest, he cordially praised the pictures, painting and calligraphy with deep vision. Teaching Faculty Members, Doctors and Students appreciated the fascinating skills of students in the field of sketching, modeling, calligraphy and paintings. On this occasion, Principal bought a Calligraphy of Rs. 2000 and Surgeon Prof. Dr. M. Idrees Anwar also bought a painting of Rs. 1500. In the end Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed awarded the shields & certificates to Patron in- Chief Prof. Dr. Atthar Maqbool , President of Arts Society, Position holders and Participants who warmly took part enthusiastically in this exhibition

  A computer lab has been established by the Department of Education Govt. of the Punjab in Library Sheikh Zayed Medical College /Hospital Rahim Yar Khan. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal of the Medical College has expressed his gratitude’s and Thanks on the eve of inauguration of the lab. The inauguration was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem vice Principal, Prof. Dr. Athar Maqbool Chairman Library Committee, Prof Dr. Hassan Mahmood Tabasum, Prof Dr. Ghulam Sabir, Assistant Prof Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Librarian Fayyaz Mehmood Khan and All library staff. One AC donated by Prof Dr. Gulam Sabir Eye specialist and other one donated by Prof. Dr. Hassan Mahmood Tabasum and Dr. Saeed Malik have a very kindly donated the ACs for the library.   PCR Lab. of Pathology Department had been working temporarily in second phase building of Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital Rahim Yar Khan since December 2009. The complete functional PCR Lab. was shifted in newly purpose build PCR building adjacent to the previous location on 21-05-2011. The worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed of SZMC/H RYK inaugurated the shifting of PCR Lab. to the new building. Dr. (Capt) Mushtaq Ahmed Medical superintendent SZH, RYK, Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem, HOD Pharmacology, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rehman, HOD Pathology, Faculty of Pathology Department along with Demonstrators, Medical Officers and Medical Technologist were also there to witness the occasion.

  Magnetic Resonance imaging 1.5 Tesla machine ( Siemon – Germany) has been installed in Sheikh Zayed Hospital. This is one the latest machine in Pakistan. Its function is by magnetic field not by radiation and is safe regarding radiation hazards. Before this addition a number of patients had to travel to other distance cities. Now this latest facility is available at their door step. MRI is meant especially for diagnosis of soft tissues pathologies. It has high diagnostic value in Spine & Cord lesion, knee & shoulder joints. It is especially useful for delineation of soft tissue tumors and their extension & meta static evaluation.

  The state of art, Catheterization laboratory started functioning in March 11 by cardiology department in a newly build air conditioned building. The lab is equipped with Siements Artis Zee flour mounted flat panel system, which is a latest advent by SiemensGermany., It includes DSA, QCA, 3D vessel rebuild & quantification, latest Senses hemodynamic monitoring system including electrophysiology examination support. The machine can support angiographical examination, angioplasties, left and right heart catheterization. Permanent pacemaker insertion, electrophysiological examination and valvoplasties like PTMC. We have performed more than 350 procedures including coronary angiographies, angioplasties, and permanent pace maker insertion with no major complications, we have a well trained team capable of performance all mentioned procedures. On average we are performing five to six procedures daily. Coronary angioplasties, which most of our patients have been advised are not being performed routinely due to un-availability of stents. Very soon a cardiac surgical set up is being added which will address our 50 % of patient for whom coronary bypass operation has been advised.

  Every year, May 17 is dedicated to World Hypertension Day. The theme is “Know Your Numbers and Target Your Blood Pressure”. On this occasion, a seminar presided by Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed was held in college auditorium of Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan.
Addressing the participants, renowned Professor of Cardiology Dr. M. Naeem Aslam said that purpose of this day is to promote public awareness about Hypertension and to encourage people to control & prevent this “Silent Killer”. High Blood Pressure is a major risk factor for the Stroke, Coronary heart diseases as well as kidney failure, he further added. Prof. Dr. Naeem advised the people to have medical regular checkup, learning more about B.P. and keeping it under control through regular course of medicine and making the plans for reducing the salty diets.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Principal of SZMC said in his presidential address that lake of physical activity, mental pressure, obesity, excessive intake of spicy foods, smoking and consumption of alcohol are the major reasons leading to hypertension. He suggested that healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, proper exercise and less use of salt could save the people from the dangers of hypertension.

  A team from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Karachi visited Pediatric surgery department on Friday 6th May, 2011. Two members from CPSP, Prof. Ghulam Asgher Channah, Registrar CPSP and Prof. Sikandar Mughal, councilor CPSP, visited Pediatric Surgery Department Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan, for accreditation of the department for FCPS part II training. The department of Pediatric Surgery consists of 35 beds, established under the kind supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Choudhary Head of Pediatric Surgery Department. After accreditation, FCPS training will be started in this department and this will be quite beneficial for doctors of Southern Punjab, Upper Sindh and Balochistan.

WORKSHOP ON “INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER & INTERNET” FOR FCPS & MCPS TRAINEE

  A workshop was conducted for FCPS & MCPS trainees at UHS Computer Lab Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan from 21-03-2011 to 25-03-2011 by “WHO Collaborating centre for research & Training in Educational Development of health personnel” and Development of Medical Education & National teacher training centre, College of Physician and Surgeon Pakistan. Twenty Five Doctors participated in the workshop. Mr. Shah Zeb Khan Assistant Manager I.T, from CPSP office Multan facilitated the Workshop. Participant appreciated the efforts of Mr. Shah Zeb Khan who made it sure that everyone gets hand on experience. All the participants & facilitator Mr. Shah Zeb Khan appreciated the high tech facilities available at UHS Lab. The efforts of Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Assistant Professor Community Medicine were also applauded for maintaining Computer Lab in Excellent condition.
On the last day, Professor Abdul Karim, acting Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan & Dr. Capt. Mushtaq Ahmad MS Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan Distributed Certificates to the participants.

  Early in the morning, distribution of 4000 Hand bills in newspapers.
At 09:00 AM, an awareness walk lead by Professor DR. Muhammad Saeed, Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College /Hospital Rahim Yar Khan started from Admin Block to College auditorium. It is attended by Prof. Abdul Karim, Vice Principal. M.S. DHO. EDO & large number of faculty members, Doctors, Paramedical Staff, Social Workers, Print & Electronic Media members & Public. Participants were holding banners & play cards displaying important messages for TB Control.
At the end of walk, a public seminar was organized in the Auditorium of Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan. Professor DR. Muhammad Saeed, Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College /Hospital Rahim Yar Khan presided over the seminar which was attended & large number of social workers, Doctors & members of Print & Electronic Media. Dr. Masood Ul Haq, Head department of pulmonology, Dr Abdus Salam Arshad,consultant chest physician, Dr. Ghulam Rabbani, DHO & District TB Co-ordination, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed M.S Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, Dr. Muhammad Jameel EDO Health & Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital Rahim Yar Khan addressed the seminar. Speakers highlighted the important steps in control of TB. They stressed the participates & Print & Electronic Media to spread the message to everyone that TB is curable diseases, facilities for its diagnosis and treatment are available at all government hospitals free of cost and with co ordinate efforts, we can eliminate this disease from the world. The seminar was ended with the prayers for the success TB control program by Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim V. Principal.

March 23rd , 2011 Awareness camp arranged BY DEPARTMENT OF PULMONOLOGY at Chowk Basti Kamaran shahbaz pur road near By Pass Chowk  
  By Pass Chowk  an area from where large number of TB Patients were reported. Camp was arranged by Mr. Farooq Ahmed General Secretary Mazdoor Ithad Foundation Rahim Yar Khan & Mr. Abdul Qadous Janbaz a social worker. Dr. Masood Ul Haq, Dr. Abdus Salam Arshad & Dr. Dr. Saqib Rasheed from Pulmonology Department attended the Camp. Mr. Naveed Kokhar of Anti TB Association, Mr. Arshad Bajwa, Mr. Javid Mukhtar Sialvi, number of local social and labor leaders were also present. Participants distributed informative hand bills to the shopkeepers, travelers & residents of the area & verbally conveyed the important information to people of the area.   6th Annual Sports 2011 of Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan held in Mehmood Stadium from 28th Feb. to 09th March. Final events of the sports celebrated on last day 9th March . Five colorful stalls of different classes with their slogans were presenting their identity . Principal SZMC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed wellcomed the Chief guest Dr. Ahmed Javid Qazi DCO and other guests Dr. Sohail Habib Tajik DPO, Col. Farhat Nawaz (Rangers),Ch . M. Shafiq MPA . Ch. Muhammad Nawaz MPA. DCO Rahim Yar Khan announced," Sports Opening “. All the viewers , students and teaching staff stood up in regard while unique “National Anthem” was played on violin. In his address, he said that games have very important role in healthy life and such activities should continue during the education. The players should have also sprit of competition. Medals were presented to the winners on the victory stand In the end, Principal Dr. Muhammad Saeed congratulated the sports committee who worked hard with full dedication.

     
March 10 th , 2011 Sheikh Zayed Medical College R. Y. Khan Got 2nd Position among thirteen Medical Colleges of the Punjab  
  The UHS Lahore has announced the result of 3rd Professional MBBS Annual Examination 2010 ,Sheikh Zayed Medical College R. Y. khan, has been marvelous result and placed 2nd Position among thirteen Medical Colleges of the Punjab. The result percentage of SZMC is 91.58%. . Shirjeel Murtaza (783 marks), Nadia Illyas (764 marks) and Ilham Iqbal Sh.(753 marks) got 1st ,2nd and 3rd positions respectively in this college. We heartily congratulate to the respectable Principal, faculty of the college and the students.

  Welcome Party of New Fist Year MBBS Class was held on 21-02-2011 on the lawns of Anatomy Department, Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan. Students of 2nd Year MBBS arranged this colorful event with great enthusiasm and fervor. Stage was magnificently decorated. Different students of 2nd Year MBBS participated in skits to entertain the audience.
Principle Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed took extraordinary interest in this celebration, his presence graced the occasion. At the end of program, Principle was invited on the stage. He appreciated the performance of students and cherished the efforts of Prof. Dr. Zafar H. Tanveer (Chairman Literary and Cultural Activities) for encouragement of the students in extra curricular activities. He also introduced different faculty members of the College and praised their academic results.

February 20 th , 2011 OPENING CEREMONY INDOOR GAMES  
  For the first time in the history of Sheikh Zayed Medical College a fantastic opening ceremony was held in the badminton court Mehmood Stadium on 19th February,2011, at 8:30 P.M. Students of all classes participated whole heartedly and made this event cheerful & colorful. The opening match was played between our Honourable Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed & Assistant Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar Malik.

  Principal Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed expressed his profound grief on the sudden demise of Dr. Abdul Khaliq while he was addressing to condolence meeting held in college auditorium. He announced that “Dr. Abdul Khaliq award” will be presented every year to first position holders in each subject of final professional exam. The other speakers who expressed their feelings on his sad demise were Dr. Niaz Ahmad Sidiqui, Dr. Anwar ul Haq, Dr. Akhter Saeed Malik and Prof. Abdul Aziz Javaid. During their address, they praised his immense work and whole life devoted for the ailing humanity. He was the renowned figure and respectable personality among the people of District Rahim Yar Khan due to his kindness and great services. Dr. Saeed Akhter Malik president PMA Rahim Yar Khan also announced “Life Achievement Award” for Dr. Abdul Khaliq on his unforgettable services in the medical field as first pioneer of PMA Rahim Yar Khan. In the end Doua was offered, “May Allah bestow the best of Jannah upon his departed soul and provide Sabar-e-Jamil his family members & friends to bear this eternal loss”.

  A “Certificates / Shields distribution ceremony” was organized by the worthy Principal and faculty of Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan on 25-01-2011, in the honour of 3rd Year MBBS students and teachers of 1st. Prof. MBBS class for achieving 1st Position among 20 medical colleges of Punjab (affiliated with U.H.S) in 1st Prof. (part-II) MBBS exam. 2009- 2010.
Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Aijaz Ali (Head of Forensic Medicine Department) welcomed all the students, teachers and honorable guests. Hafiz Waseem (3rd Year) recited the Holy Quran and Nadish Afzal (3rd Year) said some verses in the honour of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).
Distinction holders in the subject of Anatomy were awarded certificates by Prof. Dr. Nuzhat Perveen Khawaja (Head of Gynaecology Deptt.), Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim (Head of Pharmacology Deptt.), Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman (Head of Pathology Deptt.) and Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed (Head of Biochemistry Deptt.).
Prof. Dr. Zafar H. Tanveer and Prof. Dr. Athar Maqbool expressed their emotions and feelings about the function and the results. Position holder students were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals by worthy Principal of Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed.
Then HOD’s of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Islamiat / Pak. Studies were awarded shields and gifts by worthy Principal, SZMC, R. Y. K. Dr. Makhdoom Basharat Hussain (D.O.H) presented a gift to worthy Principal, from 3rd Year MBBS class for paying thanks to organize such a memorable function.
Lastly worthy Principal, SZMC, R. Y .K expressed his views and congratulated the whole class and teachers. He also praised Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Aijaz Ali and his department for arranging such a nice function.
At the end of the function Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Aijaz Ali thanked worthy Principal, SZMC, R.Y.K & paid gratitude to all the guests, teachers, students and Media people to come and graced the function

     
January 19 th , 2011 Sheikh Zayed Medical College R. Y. Khan Got 1st Position among Twenty Medical Colleges of the Punjab  
  The UHS Lahore has announced the result of First Prof  M. B .B. S part 2nd Annual, 2010.Sheikh Zayed Medical College, has been marvelous result and placed first Position among Twenty Medical Colleges of the Punjab. The result percentage of SZMC is 90.57%.
Ten students have obtained distinction in the subject of Anatomy and four in Physiology.
Miss Hafza Syed and Miss Rahat Bano Siddiqui, both have been placed in 1st position in their class. Mr. Adil Mohyudin placed on 2nd position and Mr. Muhammad Mannan has placed in 3rd position. We heartily congratulate to the respectable faculty of the college and the students.
